One of the objectives of Green C Ports project is to measure and to reduce the impact of port operations to the port and the surrounding areas in terms of the air quality. In fact, project’s case studies 3 and 6 aim to measure the real-time emissions generated from the port operations and the multimodal transport chain.
In this regard, INERCO in collaboration with Fundación Valenciaport team and the Port Authority of Valencia, has just installed the 7 air quality sensors in the Port of Valencia with the purpose to gather relevant air quality parameters such as PMs, NOx, O3 and SO2. The sensors were installed in strategic points of the port in order to achieve the highest level of awareness in terms of air quality for the whole port area and, especially, in the port’s perimeter interfacing with the city of Valencia.
The data gathered by these sensors will be wirelessly uploaded to the Port Environmental Performance (PEP) platform of the port in order to be analyzed and correlated with other sensors’ data. This data will serve also to create a history of measurements that will be used to make air quality predictions in the near future.
