On the 31st of May 2023, the Green C Ports Communication Event on Big Data Modelling and Advanced Predictive Analytics took place as a hybrid event in Bremen. The event was organized successfully, encompassing a comprehensive agenda that provided participants with an overview of the ongoing results of the six case studies that are being carried out as part of the Green C Ports project.
The second part of the event was a deep dive session where the technical aspects of each case were detailed.
The event witnessed the participation of a total of 38 attendees, comprising 15 individuals who were present in person and 23 who joined the event remotely. Among the participants, there were representatives from Europe as well as other regions around the world.
The meeting concluded with an interesting Q&A session during which key questions were raised.
One of the key questions posed was regarding the main challenge that the project faced in its implementation, particularly in light of the existence of many case studies across various ports.
In response, Joan Meseguer from Fundación Valenciaport emphasized that the biggest challenge had been the coordination and management of timing to ensure the availability of the necessary data for the analytics phase. This stage has been crucial, as all datasets must be ready at, approximately, the same time in order to be compliant with the project’s timeline and deadlines. Data availability in quantity and quality is a big challenge in these kinds of projects.
Another question that emerged was focused on the prerequisites for stakeholders to effectively utilize the models and analytics generated from the case studies. The response highlighted the significance of presenting data at a high level, omitting technical details, and providing concise and synthesized information. “It is necessary to produce tailor-made reports for each type of end-user of the information”. This work is being done in Activity 3, the results of which will be presented at the Venice event planned for late September or early October.
